On Saturday, October 24, the University of Viña del Mar’s International Students went on a picnic and canopying trip in the Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden is a large national park on the outskirts of Viña del Mar. The sunny weather was perfect for a picnic, and the students each brought different kinds of food to contribute. They snacked on an assortment of fruits, pies, sandwiches, bread, chips, sauces and juice. After they finished eating, several of the students participated in some ball games.
The students then took a walk through the forest to the canopying area, which is a course with zip-lines, hanging rope bridges, wooden tubes and ladders placed at various heights through the trees. The students donned helmets and harnesses, and were given a talk on safety before zooming off along the first zip-line. For those afraid of heights, it was a chance to challenge themselves to overcome their fear. The students had a great time posing for the camera as they crawled through the hanging wooden tubes, hung out on wooden platforms and carefully stepped one foot in front of the other across the bridges.
