The week of April 20, the international students from the University of Arizona bid goodbye to the International Office and the University of Viña del Mar. A farewell dinner, hosted for the University of Arizona students, the University of Arizona’s Resident Director at UVM, Andrea Pope, and the professors and administrative staff of the UVM’s International Office, celebrated the time the students spent with UVM.
The University of Arizona students arrived in Viña del Mar in January and spent four months living with Chilean families and attending Spanish classes, which immersed them in Chilean culture and developed their Spanish language skills. Apart from classes, the students participated in cultural and recreational activities such as visiting Pablo Neruda’s famous house in Isla Negra, the Chilean National Congress, Pomaire and Santiago, and horseback riding through sand dunes along the beach.
