Last Sunday, July 5th, the Journey to South America one-week program arrived in Santiago de Chile after spending two weeks in Peru and one week in the north of Chile. Upon arriving in
Viña del Mar, the University of Oklahoma students met their new host families and headed to their Chilean houses to get a good night's rest. On Monday morning the students were welcomed to the
UVM International Office (OIIE) with a brief orientiation and then had a class with their professors on
History of Democracy and Dictatorship. Afterwards, they enjoyed a tour of Valparaiso and had lunch in the famous restaurant
J. Cruz, tasting their first Chilean
chorrillana. The afternoon was concluded with a warm welcome ceremony hosted by the OIIE staff and students from the University of Viña del Mar.
